According to The Telegraph, Tottenham are considering a move for Watford goalkeeper Ben Foster this summer.
What’s the word?
Spurs’ current number one, Hugo Lloris, has missed a number of games this injury due to injury, with Paulo Gazzaniga regularly having to fill in – as he did so in the 3-2 defeat against Wolves on Sunday afternoon.
Now, The Telegraph claim the north London side are pondering a swoop for Foster, who is out of contract at the end of the season and would thus be available to sign on a free transfer.

The report adds that “he is an attractive proposition for Premier League managers looking for homegrown options”, although may need convincing to part ways with his number one status at Watford.
Steer clear
Whilst Foster has years worth of experience playing in English football’s top-flight, he has never been the most consistently reliable of goalkeepers.
In his 354 total Premier League appearances, the 36-year-old has made 17 errors that have directly led to goals – Lloris has made just one more (although in far fewer games).
Foster has made his fair share of howlers, not least the one against Spurs’ north London rivals Arsenal last season when his attempted clearance cannoned off an onrushing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and into the back of the net a la David de Gea and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Just last week even, Foster was at fault when he brought down Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes inside the box when the scores were locked level at 0-0.

Spurs already have one ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ like goalkeeper in Lloris. The Frenchman is capable of the quite spectacular, as well as the quite ridiculous. One day he can make a huge penalty save against Manchester City in the Champions League knock-out stages, and another he can be left red-faced trying a Cruyff-turn against Danny Ings.
Jose Mourinho would be smart in avoiding making a move for a man who has proven himself to be just as unreliable as their current number one.
Meanwhile, this Spurs ace is enjoying an impressive season despite the high-profile mistakes.
