According to The Nottingham Post, Forest are looking to unload midfielders Liam Bridcutt and Ben Watson on loan in the January transfer window.
Neither player has featured extensively for The Reds under Aitor Karanka this season after a summer whereby the defensive midfield position was heavily bolstered.
Bridcutt has only made one appearance in the Championship so far this season, while Watson has not featured in over a month. This is due to the form of the likes of Adlène Guedioura, Jack Colback, Claudio Yacob, as well as the arrival of Panagiotis Tachtsidis.
The departure of these two players will also allow the club to make more business in the upcoming January transfer window, as they will be able to free up cash. Therefore, from both the players’ and the club’s perspective, this seems like a good idea. Bridcutt and Watson are two high level players that would be an asset to any team in the Championship; it just so happens that they happen to be part of a highly competitive Nottingham Forest squad- for each player’s sake, they should be allowed to continue their career’s elsewhere.
This was always going to be a side effect of signing so many players over the summer, as The Reds have made 17 signings since then. Players would eventually be neglected as it is almost impossible to effectively balance such a large squad- and so it has been proved.
Bridcutt has been at the City Ground for just under a year and a half, while Watson joined in February this year, but it looks as though their short-term future is somewhere else.
