According to TalkSport, Rangers are currently in pole position to sign long-term target Dominic Solanke from Liverpool in the January transfer window.
What’s the word?
Solanke made 27 appearances in his debut season with Liverpool last time out, earning his first England cap in the process. However, the 21-year-old is yet to even make the bench for the Reds in the Premier League this term.
The youngster needs a move away from Anfield, on either a temporary or permanent basis, to a club where he can get regular first team football once again and revive his stalling career. Given that he is clearly surplus to requirements with the Reds at this time, Jurgen Klopp would likely sanction at least a loan move in January.

Before he heads off to Ibrox Stadium though, Newcastle United should enter the race for the striker’s signature.
A move that suits all involved
Staying in the Premier League would likely be the best option for Solanke, and with the Magpies’ current striking contingent struggling to rack up the goals, the Liverpool man would certainly be afforded opportunities to impress at St James’ Park.
Rafa Benitez could certainly do with adding some firepower to his struggling squad and Solanke, who will be eager to prove his quality at the highest level, could be one of the most affordable options available to him in January. The opportunity for regular football with the Tyneside club would also give the once-capped young England man an opportunity to get his career back on track.
Therefore, a loan switch taking Solanke to St James’ would be a move that suits all involved.
