The United States international goalkeeper made his way to the City Ground in the summer of 2023, as he bid farewell to Premier League giants Arsenal. The intention was to find regular first-team football on the banks of the River Trent.

Turner was drafted in by Forest as first choice, but ended up losing his place on a couple of occasions as mistakes led to questions being asked of his reliability between the sticks. The 29-year-old’s last appearance of 2023-24 came on February 28, with no Premier League minutes seen since January 30.
WHAT TURNER SAID
Reflecting on the season as a whole, Turner – who is about to head off on Copa America duty with his country – posted on social media: “Not exactly how we drew it up but so many positive boxes ticked off along the way. Most importantly of all, good health of loved ones, connections with new people in a new home and an expanding family to share all of this with. Thank you for sticking by us all year.”
WHAT NEXT?
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Turner. He cannot expect to retain a No.1 berth with the USMNT if he is not playing at club level, and Belgium international Matz Sels is now ahead of him in the Forest pecking order – meaning that another transfer may be sought at some stage.
