DFB vice president criticises KimmichBayern CEO hits back at criticismAsks Schaffert to not hurt the teamGetty ImagesWHAT HAPPENED?
Schaffert had openly criticized the Bayern full-back for his lack of efforts with the national side as much as he did with the German champions. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen hit back at the comments from Schaffert, asking him to address the real problems inside the DFB instead of picking out criticism that will hurt the national team camp.

"I am more than irritated by these statements. It is not comprehensible if the vice president of the DFB criticises the achievements of a deserved and important international such as Joshua Kimmich in his club," said Dreesen on Bild [via Sky Sports Germany].

Germany have struggled to perform internationally on the big stage since their 2014 World Cup win as they have fallen in the group stages in the last two World Cup campaigns. They also fell in the Round of 16 in the 2020 Euros despite being one of the favourites to win the title.
WHAT NEXT FOR KIMMICH?
With the Bundesliga on its winter break, the German superstar will not be in action until January 12 when Bayern Munich take on Hoffenheim.
