Egypt have kicked off their qualifying campaign in perfect fashion but they will be acutely aware that they will only be guaranteed qualification for the 2026 tournament if they win their group. Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso and Guinea-Bissau are also in their group along with Djibouti. Nine group winners will qualify, while one team will have the potential to gain entry into the World Cup via an Intercontinental Play-Off.
