Tottenham are preparing an ambitious bid for Porto striker Hulk the Daily Mail understands.
The Brazilian forward is manager Harry Redknapp’s new target as he strives to bring fresh attacking blood to White Hart Lane.
Hulk has now jumped to the top of his shopping list after scoring 36 goals and assisting 21 as the Portuguese club romped to the Premeira Liga title.
It’s understood that talks have already begun between Porto and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy despite the player having a mind-boggling £88 million release clause in his contract.
Spurs are convinced they can land him for a club record £35 million with the striker also being on a low wage, which would fit into their wage structure.
However Spurs will have to fight off interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City who are also interested in the 25-year-old.
They would be able to eclipse any transfer fee and wage demand and Redknapp will have to convince Hulk that a move to North London is more beneficial.
Another potential deal breaker could be the future of Radamel Falcao who was Hulk’s partner at Porto. He is being chased by Atletico Madrid who are using the money received from Man City for Sergio Aguero to finance a deal.
If he moves to Spain it would certainly make the Portuguese champions more reluctant to part with their only other regular goal scorer.
Spurs are also interested in Villarreal’s Giuseppe Rossi as Redknapp looks to boost a strike force that managed only 17 goals between them last season in the league.
